We are supporting Ubuntu Beds in their efforts to accommodate our amazing healthcare workers who are critical to our frontline efforts to contain and treat Coronavirus and COVID-19. We encourage other independent guest houses and boutique hotels in Cape Town to do the same. Please also show them some love on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
UNIQUE SELF-CATERING GUEST HOUSE
Au Pear is an old Cape cottage with four luxury suites surrounding a courtyard with Catawba and Hanepoot grape vines. Completely renovated while retaining much of its period charm, this darling boutique guest house is tucked up a side road in the heart of leafy Newlands.
We are within walking distance of the University of Cape Town, Newlands Forest, Newlands rugby and cricket grounds, local pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. It's only a 15-minute drive to the City Centre or Cape Town international airport and 20 minutes to the beach.
Au Pear is unique in that breakfast is not provided so you are not paying for something you may not necessary want. The house is set up so that guests can do their own catering in the fully-equipped kitchen, and we find that the majority prefer this.
There is a very good mini-supermarket just two minutes’ walk away that also has a bakery where you can buy delicious fresh croissants etc. Some guests prefer to have breakfast at one of the many gorgeous eateries nearby, such as The Gardeners Cottage at Montebello (a five-minute stroll along Newlands Avenue), Melissa’s and Cassis at Kildare Centre or Foresters Arms pub on the corner, to name a few.
We now also have the option of paying with a credit card.
